I'd say Destiny's Crucible is more Science Fiction than Fantasy, as it involves alien races rather than magic, but regardless here are my additions:

Days of Future Past by John Van Stry
Good Intentions by Elliott Kay
Soul Force Saga by James Wisher
The Hammer Commission by John Van Stry
Demon Lord by Morgan Blayde
Innkeeper Chronicles by Ilona Andrews
The Morcyth Saga by Brian S. Pratt
Sennadar by James Galloway(Fel)

All i can remember at the moment, probably more that i forgot.

Huh no Tolkien or rothfuss?

If you haven't read those two read The lord of the rings and The king-killer chronicles.

Tolkien pretty much inspires every trope ever and Kkc is the most beautifully written thing I've ever read.

Here's a Google Doc for a side story of Bast called the lightning tree. Was featured in a collection of big author stories: https://drive.google.com...PmgDX3NBbUp2QV9uRDQ/view

I kind of lost interest while reading Name of the wind, and for tolkien the movies were enough for me.

Why'd you lose interest?

Books are much better. Movie leave out a lot like always. *shudders* Except the eagles.

Not sure, was midway through and the MC wasn't really making me feel engaged, and i wont deny that tolkien is a classic, but the movies didn't draw me in enough to make me want to read the books.

This story is more like Fictional history but it's about A Demon Prince and a half angel. Their romance and sex scenes are like 50 shades of grey but well written lol. This first 2 arcs finish a good story but was abandoned.

bdsm because God wants half angels to obey their "mate". But they didn't think any demons could break the seal of cipher whatever it's called.

I'd recommend skipping sex scenes from most books. I reference 50 shades of grey because a lot of people only have experience with bdsm from that.

Tried to read Tolkien about 20 years ago - remember reading about the first 17 pages of The Hobbit - and put the book down - I just couldn't read it......watched the first 3 movies based off the books and was bored the entire time......

Another series you may enjoy - was first published back in the early '80s, and is now available on Kindle.....excellent series, 7 books in total, unfortunately the author died before writing the last book, and the last book was written by his wife (I think)

The Gandalara Cycle by Randall Garrett
Book 1 - The Steel of Raithskar
Book 2 - The Glass of Dyskornis
Book 3 - The Bronze of Eddarta
Book 4 - The Well of Darkness
Book 5 - The Search for Ka
Book 6 - Return to Eddarta
Book 7 - The River Wall

You may also like the Green Rider series by Kristen Britain
Green Rider
First Rider's Call
Mirror Sight
Blackveil
Firebrand (will be released in March this year)

Also the Borderlands series by Lorna Freeman - it's very hard to track down ebook copies of this series....was the start of a good series with the first 3 books, but unfortunately the author had a dispute with her publisher and has not written / released any books since 2010

Also the Codex Alera series by Jim Butcher....for a series that was written as a Bet it was really good.....for those of you that don't know, Jim got into an arguement with someone online about whether he could write a good book based off a stupid idea...he upped the anti by betting that he could write a book on 2 totally different ideas - he was challenged to write a book based on the ideas of Pokemon and a Lost Roman Legion....and the Codex Alera series was born

Wow, where are the classics of fantasy?

Chronicles of the Black Company - Glenn Cook
Chronicles of Thomas Covenant - Stephen Donaldson
Elric, Corum, Hawkmoon series - Michael Moorcock
Chronicles of Amber - Roger Zelazny
Belgariad - David Eddings
Riftwar saga - Raymond E. Feist
Fafhrd and Grey Mouser - Fritz Leiber
Sword of Truth - Terry Goodkind (This is a love or hate series, latter for me, but is indelibly part of the fantasy landscape)

Other notable series
Tale of Malazan book of the Fallen - Steven Erikson
Blood Song - Anthony Ryan
Jhereg - Steven Brust

The Belgariad & Malloreon series by David Eddings and the Dragonriders of Pern series by Anne McCaffery were the series that first got me hooked on reading fantasy as a young teenager.....but they're not what I would recommend for adult readers today - they are still good series but more suited to a young audience just being introduced to the genre IMO.

I enjoyed the Riftwar saga by Raymon E. Feist and the subsequent spin-off series, and used to buy each new book (many times in Hardcover) when released - until he started to kill off my favorite characters from the first books - I gave up on the books when he killed off Jimmy the Hand - I don't think I've even gone back and re-read any of the previous books since that happened.

The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant drove me nuts - just consistent whining from the MC about him being sick and not believing anything he saw.

Soooo many good books in this genre. Read many of the ones listed, and would recommend them. One that's not listed that I really love are P.C. Hodgell's Kencyrath series.

P.C. Hodgell's Amazon Author Page

You can also find them at Baen Publishing

Another I like is David Weber's War God series. The first book "Oath of Swords" is free on Amazon.

Yep, all very very classic. Loved them all. But don't forget Zelazny's Chronicles of Amber, probably the best multiversal novels not written by Michael Moorcock.

Ditto on Riftwar.

As far as Covenant: Loved the first 3, in part because TC was such a despicable hero. It was just very different, and in part because when the first three were first published they had this gold box on the back with a review of the books and it called it the "best in modern adult fantasy" and that enticed and frightened me at the bookstore. I looked at it time and time again before getting brave enough to read it. I was in Jr. High, and that word "adult fantasy" made me fear it was porn, and I was scared to death my parents would see that on the back and think I was reading something I shouldn't be. This was probably 1979 when book 3 was published.

Now of course, other than the rape scene, I don't recall much sex, but it really was not something suitable for younger audience in terms of overall themes.

I went into shock when the second trilogy started appearing because for some reason I thought the first three were "ancient history" and didn't realize it had only been about a year between the first and third trilogy. So when I saw it in hardback, I flipped my mind and used every penny to buy it.

It took everything I had to get through the second trilogy. If TC was dark, Linden Avery was a black hole of miasma. It was like pulling teeth to read. I never did read the third quadrology which were written much later.

Yeah, not a fan of ridiculously dark fantasy, and Urban fantasy more often than not gets on my nerves because it's either not well written or super depressing or super whiny, Like the wheel of time in the first case and most generic Urban Fantasy in the second. GG I'm sorry to say that among all the books you linked in the first post besides the few there that i had read beforehand the only one i enjoyed was the Pax Arcana series, all the others didn't really draw me in, i guess we have mostly different tastes but a fraction of things we both like.

Here's a piece of literature that i found interesting, if anybody's interested. A Fresh Start By rlfj

have you tried the Journey to Wudang series, Dark Heavens series, Celestial Battle series by Kyle Chan??

They are a bit different from the others that I listed.....based on Chinese mythology.....lots of Chinese demons, Gods, Demi-Gods, Bodas, Ancestors, and Shen (animal and nature spirits), etc.....but set in modern day Hong Kong...and one of the main characters is actually the Chinese God of Martial Arts...so lots of fighting and various martial art related stuff

The Author is actually from my home city, but lived in Hong Kong for 10 years with her husband....
